5 weeks ago I lost the man I loved the most, and certainly the longest, my dad. After a total of 24 weeks in the hospital last year, dad was finally too tired to keep up the fight. He lived [almost] 90 years and it is my family's greatest joy that he left us without pain, and with all of us at his side. Although saddened by OUR loss we choose to rejoice in HIS full and wonderful life.
I would like to thank our family and friends who helped us through these difficult months, and my clients who so unselfishly accepted my late-night "working hours" so I could spend time with my father during "acceptable" visiting hours.
I wish you all a healthy and happy 2007, and hope you can take the time to be with those you love. Life is short. Sometimes even 90 years doesn't feel like enough time to let someone know how much you care, so we best start now! Spread the love!
Happy Valentine's Day, Debi

The Blackstone River Watershed Association (www.thebrwa.org) Is a volunteer organization devoted to protecting the natural resources and water quality of the Blackstone River which runs through both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. A large part of the industrialization of these states, the river fell victim to misuse and had been highly contaminated by textile dyes and other dumping and run-off for years. The BRWA along with the National Parks Services and other local organizations have been crucial protectors of this natural and historic resource.
The BRWA approached Gardiner Design to recreate their existing logo. Although I enjoyed the flora and fauna shown, I felt that that logo lacked punch, and a major "player". The logo had no central image. All detail was keep to the sides, which not only left the logo's focal point blank, but the logo also ignored the long established trout imagery they had adopted as "mascot" throughout all of their other marketing materials. Part of their goal to Protect and Restore Habitat lists "cold water fishery stream protection" so I felt that adding the trout as a central figure made sense. I also added color for applications such as the internet and digital printing where there are no "up-charges" for color work, created a black & white version, and more simplified versions of both the color and the B&W which removed some of details so the logo wouldn't appear "muddy" when used in a smaller size.
